If you have a sweet tooth, then treacle tart is the one for you. The tart can be served warm as a pudding with cream, clotted cream or ice cream. Alternatively, serve a slice with afternoon tea.

  1. Grease a clean tart pan
  2. Attach K Beater
  3. Add unsalted butter, cake flour, salt and icing sugar to the Kenwood Bowl
  4. Mix until coarse crumbs form - 2 min, Speed 2
  5. Add egg to the Kenwood Bowl while machine is running
  6. Mix - 2 min, Speed 2
  7. Transfer content of Kenwood Bowl to work surface
  8. Wrap with plastic wrap
  9. Chill in fridge - 30 min
  10. Roll until 1/8" (5mm) thick
  11. Line the tart tin with the pastry
  12. Trim the excess pastry and prick the base with a fork
  13. Chill in fridge - 30 min
  14. Pre-heat oven - 190°C
  15. Line tart pan with parchment paper
  16. Fill with pie weights
  17. Bake - 15 min, 190°C
  18. Remove pie weights
  19. Brush with egg
  20. Bake - 5 min, 190°C
  21. Let cool
  22. Reduce - 180°C
  23. Add golden syrup to a clean saucepan
  24. Heat until warm - low heat
  25. Add fresh breadcrumbs and lemon to the saucepan
  26. Stir until combined
  27. Transfer filling to pastry
  28. Bake - 25 min, 180°C
  29. Let cool
  30. Serve
