With a history of more than 1,800 years, dumplings are a classic lucky food for Chinese New Year, and a traditional dish eaten on Chinese New Year's Eve. It is widely popular in China, especially in North China and they usually consist of minced meat and finely chopped vegetables wrapped in a thin dough. Chinese dumplings can be made to look like Chinese ingots and legend has it that the more dumplings you eat during the New Year celebrations, the more money you can make in the New Year.

Method

Step 1

  1. Attach the K-Beater
  2. Add ground pork, king prawns, green onion, water chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms, light soy sauce, water, corn flour, sesame oil, white pepper, granulated sugar and salt to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  3. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  4. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - 1 min, Speed 1

Step 2

  1. Place gyoza sheets on a clean work surface
  2. Spoon 2 teaspoons of filling into the centre of each gyoza wrapper
  3. Dip your finger into a bowl of water and moisten the edge of half of the wrapper
  4. Fold the wrapper over and seal
  5. Dust with cornflour lightly

Step 3

  1. Add vegetable oil to a clean frying pan
  2. Heat in frying pan - medium-high heat
  3. Transfer dumplings to frying pan
  4. Fry in frying pan until golden brown - 5 min
  5. Add water to the frying pan
  6. Quickly cover with a lid
  7. Steam - 3 min

Serve

  1. Serve with sweet chilli sauce
