French Toast with Spiced Plums

Vibrant spiced plums sit atop perfectly caramelised French toast for an indulgent breakfast or brunch. Known as "Pain Perdu" in French, which translates as "Lost Bread", so be sure to use stale bread for this recipe. Try serving it with our Chantilly cream recipe to make it even more indulgent!

  1. Fit whisk tool to kCook bowl
  2. Add egg, milk, caster sugar and vanilla extract to the kCook bowl
  3. Fit kCook bowl to kCook Multi
  4. Attach lid to kCook bowl with filler cap fitted
  5. Mix with filler cap fitted - 20 sec, speed 7
  6. Transfer content of kCook bowl to glass baking dish
  7. Add stale bread to the glass baking dish
  8. Soak each side
  9. Clean kCook bowl
  10. Fit stir tool to kCook bowl
  11. Add plum, maple syrup, ground cinnamon and orange to the kCook bowl
  12. Fit kCook bowl to kCook Multi
  13. Attach lid to kCook bowl
  14. Cook with filler cap removed - 1 min, 98°C, speed 3
  15. Add content of kCook bowl to serving plate
  16. Add unsalted butter to a clean frying pan
  17. Heat in frying pan until melted - medium-high heat
  18. Transfer bread to frying pan
  19. Fry each side in frying pan until golden brown - approx 5 min
  20. Sprinkle with brown sugar each side
  21. Fry each side in frying pan until golden brown - approx 30 sec
  22. Transfer content of frying pan to serving plate
  23. Garnish with flaked almonds and icing sugar
  24. Serve
