Congee
A rice porridge that is traditionally made for breakfast in Asia and usually served savoury. We've kept our topping simple, but you can add things like eggs, dried prawns, tofu, or cooked meats.
Ingredients
- 140g Medium grain rice
- 15g Ginger - peeled, minced
- 1400g Hot Vegetable stock
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp White pepper
- Spring onions to serve- sliced
- Chilli oil to serve
- Dark soy sauce to serve

- Fit the Stir Tool and Stir assist clip
- Add rice, ginger, vegetable stock, salt and pepper into the appliance bowl and fit the splashguard
- Cook – 2 minutes, 100ºC, speed Stir 2
- Cook – 1 hour 20 minutes, 100ºC, speed Stir 3
- Let rest with the splashguard fitted– 15 minutes
- Divide the porridge between serving bowls
- Top with spring onions, chilli oil and dark soy sauce
- Serve

- Fit the Stir Tool
- Add rice, ginger, vegetable stock, salt and pepper into the appliance bowl, attach the lid
- Cook without the filler cap – 2 minutes, 98ºC, speed 2
- Cook – 1 hour 20 minutes, 94ºC, speed 1
- Fit the filler cap and let rest – 15 minutes
- Divide the porridge between serving bowls
- Top with spring onions, chilli oil and dark soy sauce
- Serve
Substitutions:
- Medium grain rice can be replaced with short grain rice
