Chocolate and Cherry Christmas Pudding

This steamed chocolate and cherry pudding is an alternative to the traditional Christmas pudding. Serve with cream, custard, or ice cream. Make this recipe extra indulgent by drizzling a few tablespoons of chocolate ganache or chocolate sauce over the pudding before serving.




  1. Grease a clean pudding bowl
  2. Attach the Creaming Beater
  3. Add dark chocolate to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  4. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  5. Heat with splashguard fitted until melted - 3 min, 60°C, Speed Min
  6. Then add all purpose flour, muscovado sugar, cocoa powder, glace cherries, sultanas, currants, raisins, green apple, sunflower oil, treacle, kirsch, egg, mixed spice and salt to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  7. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined then scrape bowl - 30 sec, Speed Min
  8. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - 10 sec, Speed Min
  9. Pour mixture into pudding bowl
  10. Grease a square of foil and lay a square of parchment paper over the top
  11. Make a crease through the middle of the foil and paper
  12. Lay the foil and paper on top of the pudding bowl, paper side down
  13. Tie a string around the pudding bowl, then tie more over the top of the bowl to make a handle
  14. Place a trivet or upturned saucer into the base of the large saucepan
  15. Transfer pudding bowl to large saucepan
  16. Fill with water
  17. Heat until boiling - high heat
  18. Simmer then set aside - 2 hr 30 min, medium-low heat
  19. Let cool slightly - 10 min
  20. Remove the parchment paper and foil
  21. Place a serving plate on top of the pudding bowl
  22. Invert the pudding bowl to release the pudding onto the plate
  23. Serve
