Cheese Straws

These cheese straws are great for children's parties or picnics. We have used a medium strength cheddar, but you can use any cheddar just remember you may need to adjust the amount of cheese for the perfect flavour.

  1. Line a clean baking tray with parchment paper
  2. Attach Dough Tool
  3. Add plain flour, unsalted butter and water to the Kenwood Bowl
  4. Mix with splashguard fitted - 5 min, Speed 2
  5. Then add cheddar cheese to the Kenwood Bowl
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted - 1 min, Speed 2
  7. Transfer pastry to lightly floured surface
  8. Knead lightly
  9. Wrap with plastic wrap
  10. Chill in fridge - 30 min
  11. Pre-heat oven - 200°C
  12. Retrieve the chilled dough from the fridge and remove the plastic wrap
  13. Roll into a rectangle until 2mm thick
  14. Cut into strips 15 cm long by 3 cm wide
  15. Twist each of the strips into a spiral
  16. Transfer pastry to baking tray
  17. Chill in fridge - 15 min
  18. Bake until golden brown - 25 min, 200°C
  19. Serve
