Baked Doughnuts:

  • 130g unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 220g caster sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 3 large free-range eggs, at room temperature
  • 300g self-raising flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 250ml milk, at room temperature
  • Pinch salt

Dipping Chocolate:

  • 400g good quality white chocolate
  • 3 tbsp canola or vegetable oil
  • Oil-based food colours or powders of your choice (must be suitable for chocolate)
  • Assorted sprinkles and toppings of your choice


  1. Preheat oven to 160°C fan-forced. Lightly grease 2 x 6-capacity donut pans with melted butter or cooking oil spray.
  2. In the bowl of a kMix fitted with a K-Beater, cream together butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time and mix until thoroughly combined.
  3. Gently incorporate flour in three divisions, alternating with two divisions of the milk. Add salt and mix until just combined, being careful not to over-mix.
  4. Spoon or use a piping bag to pipe mixture into donut pans and bake for around 15-20 minutes, or until just golden. Carefully turn over pan to gently remove donuts and place onto a cooling rack. Use the remaining donut batter to repeat the baking process.
  5. Melt white chocolate and oil together either in the microwave or in a double boiler and mix until smooth. Divide into shallow bowls (wide enough to be able to dip each donut. The number of bowls depends on how many different colours you will be using) and tint chocolate with colouring until desired shades are achieved.
  6. One by one, dip the top of each donut into chocolate. Decorate with sprinkles and other toppings of choice. Set aside for chocolate to firm. Decorate with chocolate drizzles and sprinkles of your choice.

NOTE: Doughnuts are best consumed on the day of baking & decorating but will keep refrigerated for up to 5 days.
