Steamed Chocolate Pudding

This steamed pudding takes a little more effort than a normal cake, but it is well worth it. Serve with chocolate sauce, cream, or custard.

Ingredients

100 grams butter
2  golden syrup
100 grams dark muscovado sugar


150 grams milk
1  egg
2  cocoa powder
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
225 grams plain flour
0.25 tsp. bicarbonate of soda
2 tsp. baking powder


Instructions

STEP 1/3

Fit the K beater to the machine.

Grease the pudding bowl.

STEP 2/3

Add Ingredients 1 (butter, syrup, sugar) into the small saucepan.

Heat on a medium heat until melted.

STEP 3/3

Add Ingredients 2 (milk, egg, cocoa powder, cinnamon, flour, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder) into the Mixer bowl.

Attach the Mixer bowl to the machine and fit the splash guard.

Transfer the contents of the saucepan into the Mixer bowl.

Mix on speed Min for 1 minute.

Transfer the contents of the Mixer bowl into the pudding bowl.

Lay a piece of foil on a worksurface.

Lay a piece of parchment paper on top.

Fold a seam in the middle.

Place over the pudding bowl, foil side up.

Tie a piece of string around the bowl, use more string to make a handle on top of the bowl.

Place the pudding bowl into the large saucepan.

Pour hot water into the saucepan so it reaches halfway up the pudding bowl.

Place the saucepan on a medium high heat so the water simmers.

Cover the saucepan with a lid.

Steam for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Serve.
