Individual Italian Easter Bread Rings

These fun bread rings are impressive and easy to make, and they will please both kids and adults alike. Prepare the boiled eggs in advance and allow them to cool.

Ingredients

Servings: 6
Makes: 6

6 g dried yeast
50 ml milk
250 g bread flour
0.5 tsp. salt
20 g sugar
3  egg, beaten
70 g butter


6  boiled eggs


2  egg, beaten


200 g icing sugar
30 g water, warm


  sprinkles, as needed


Instructions

STEP 1/7

Line the baking tray with parchment paper

Fit the Dough tool to the machine

STEP 2/7

Add Ingredients 1 (dried yeast, milk, flour, salt, sugar, eggs, butter) into the Mixer bowl

Attach the Mixer bowl to the machine and fit the splash guard

Mix on speed 1 for 1 minute until combined

Mix on speed 2 for 9 minutes until dough formed

Or use the ‘Dough Kneading’ preset if applicable

Remove the dough tool

Transfer the dough from the Mixer bowl into a large mixing bowl

Cover the bowl with a tea towel

Prove in warm place for 1 hour

STEP 3/7

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface

Divide into 12 equal balls

Roll each ball into a log, approx. 20-30 cm long

Join two ropes by pinching the two ends together

Twist the two ropes together around each other to form one rope

Bring the two ends together to form a circle

Pinch the ends to seal

Transfer the shaped dough to the prepared baking tray

Cover with a tea towel

Repeat the same with the remaining dough

Once done, place Ingredients 2 (boiled eggs) into the centre of each dough ring

Cover with a tea towel

Prove for 30 minutes

STEP 4/7

Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC

Retrieve the dough

Brush with the first item of Ingredients 3 (egg wash)

Alternatively, brush with a little milk

Bake at 180ºC for 25 minutes until golden brown

Remove from the oven and let cool

STEP 5/7

Retrieve, clean the Mixer bowl and fit the Creaming beater

Add Ingredients 4 (icing sugar, warm water) into the Mixer bowl

Attach the Mixer Bowl to the machine

Mix on speed 1 for 1 minute until combined

STEP 6/7

Drizzle the icing over the baked rings

STEP 7/7

Garnish with sprinkles
