Founder of Ireland’s first Mexican boutique grocer and cookery school, Picado Mexican in Portobello Dublin, Lily Ramirez-Foran is on a mission to showcase Mexican food beyond its clichés and misconceptions.
Lily is the author behind the popular Mexican food blog ‘A Mexican Cook’. She has been living and cooking in Ireland for 20 years with her Irish husband and business partner, Alan Foran.
When not busy with work, Lily can be found in her kitchen experimenting with recipes, writing on her kitchen table and learning to grow food in her tiny urban garden. Shop keeper, food writer, story teller, mad dreamer and lover of all things Irish.
She is a chef member of Euro-Toques Ireland, and passionately believes in the Slow Food ethos of good, clean and fair food. She has delivered Mexican food demos at The West Waterford Food Festival, Dublin Tall Ships Festival, The Theatre of Food at Electric Picnic, The National Ploughing Championships, The Galway Food Festival, the Rocking Food Festival as well as in several cookery schools in Ireland.
Lily has contributed recipes to Easy Food Magazine, The Irish Times, The Irish Independent Weekend Magazine, The Journal, The RTE Guide, Eat Magazine, Slainte, The Complete Guide to Irish Craft Beer and Cider and to several Irish food online publications. Picado Mexican has been featured with the BBC Travel, The New York Times, Condé Nast and British Airways Magazine.
Her first cookbook, TACOS, is due for release in Spring 2022.
