You should discontinue use immediately. The freezing solution used is non-toxic, but having a leak would impede the function of the attachment.In this case please contact customer service.

What are the differences between a citrus press and a centrifugal juicer?

A Citrus Juicer is a device that squeezes the juice out of a citrus fruit, the fruit must be cut in half before being juiced and most of the pulp stays on the half fruit. A Centrifugal Juicer will juice harder and whole fruits by spinning them through a fine mesh. This results in pulp build up, usually in a storage device, and also a large amount of juice.

What can I do with the left over pulp from my juicer?

There are many things you can do with this by-product of the juicing process. I am having difficulty attaching my AT950 Multi Food Grinder. Can you help?

In order to attach the multi food grinder it may be better to assemble it onto the machine. - Switch off and unplug your Chef or Major and remove the slow speed cover. - Open the slow speed outlet catch and push the attachment housing into the slow speed outlet. Release the catch. - Insert the scroll. Carefully add the meat cutter onto the end of the scroll ensuring the blade edge is facing towards the front of the attachment. Add your choice of screen. Complete the attachment with the ring nut and secure. - Add the hopper and pusher to the top of the attachment. Plug your machine in and switch on. Your slow speed attachment is now ready for use. I have never made sausages in my multi food grinder before. What tips can you give?

Ask your local butcher for sausage skins - most butchers will be happy to provide these for sale. Use pig/hog skin on the large nozzle and sheep/lamb skin on the small nozzle. Or, instead of using skin, roll the extruded sausages in breadcrumbs or seasoned flour before cooking.If you're using skin, soak it in cold water for 30 minutes first, then open it up with a jet of water. Put your chosen nozzle under a running tap and pull the skin onto the nozzle. Recipes can be found on our website.

I placed my mincer in the dishwasher by accident and it has discoloured. What can I do?

The mincer is not suitable for cleaning in a dishwasher.In the unfortunate event that your mincer is washed in a dishwasher, some of the staining may be removed with a soft cloth and lemon juice.

The meat coming out of my mincer does not resemble minced meat. What is going wrong?

My Chef Sense will not switch on. What can I try?

Accepted Answer

The Chef Sense is equipped with a load sensor which will cut off if the ingredients are too heavy. The illuminated dial will flash, and the speed dial will need to be turned to the zero position before restarting your Chef. Reduce the load before restarting. If the head is lifted, the Chef Sense will also go into standby mode and stop functioning. Lower the head and reset the speed to zero, and the Chef can be restarted. Can I purchase a splashguard for my A701 or A901?

Regrettably there is no splashguard available for the older Chef models as it was an attachment that was introduced much later on.

Do the Chef accessories fit the Major machines?

Accepted Answer

All high speed and slow speed attachments can be used on either the Chef or the Major kitchen machines. This includes the blender, mill attachment, food grinder and pasta attachments. Bowl tools and bowl outlet accessories can only be fitted to their relevant models because the sizes are different. This includes the dough hook, K-beater, balloon whisk, creaming beater, frozen dessert maker, mixing bowls and colander. The KVC5000/KVC6000 Chef Sense uses a simplified slow speed attachment and bowl connection. Older attachments will fit whn used with the adapter supplied with the machine. Chef Sense specific bowls will be needed if a replacement is required. Chef Sense slow speed attachments can be used with most older machines (not A701/A707) but an adapter will be required which can be purchased from Kenwood Spares here

I cannot remove the bowl on my Chef or Major. What can I do?

Accepted Answer

Your kitchen machine can deal with very heavy ingredients &ndash; for example bread dough &ndash; and the rotation of these types of ingredient can tighten the bowl into the machine and make it difficult to remove. In these cases extra force in a counterclockwise direction will be needed to remove the bowl. If you regularly make dough we would recommend the bowl is periodically loosened to avoid over tightening.

I require a replacement blender for my Chef or Major

Accepted Answer

The blenders are compatible with any Chef or Major which was manufactured from around 1976, although they will not fit the A701 or A707 models. The A901/ A907 models are compatible. Your model number can be found on the underside of your Chef or Major. AT358&ndash; ThermoResistTM Glass (Heatproof) The blender has a 1.5 litre working capacity for cold ingredients and a 1.2 litre capacity for hot ingredients.

Is the spatula heat proof?

Unless you have purchased the Cooking Chef, the spatula is not heat proof and cannot be used in saucepans or with hot liquids.

My Chef tool has turned black

Accepted Answer

This is most likely due to a reaction to dishwasher detergent. Please note that the older non-stick coated attachments are unsuitable for dishwashing. It is possible to remove the black residue and restore the attachment to its original state. As the attachment has been exposed to detergents containing alkaline you need to neutralise it by soaking it in lemon juice or vinegar for 24 hours.

My dough hook/ K beater is stuck. How can I remove it?

The tool may have been incorrectly attached before mixing. Lift the head and gently turn the attachment from the bottom end, twisting in a clockwise direction. It is important not to use forceful pressure.

My K-Beater does not reach the sides of the bowl when mixing.

Accepted Answer

The K-Beater will not scrape the sides of the bowl down and should never touch the sides. Doing so could cause damage to both the bowl and the attachment. Either increase the speed slightly, or scrape the mixture down halfway through mixing with a spatula or similar tool.

The K-Beater and Dough Hook are both tucked into the polystyrene within the product packaging. Please lift the polystyrene out of the box turn it over and check inside. These have been placed there to avoid damage during transportation.

Will any accessories fit my Kenwood Cooking Chef?

All currently available Chef/ Major accessories will fit the Cooking Chef. For bowl accessories such as the colander, ice cream maker and potato peeler, ensure you purchase the one that fits the Kenwood Major. These are the AT930 Colander, AT957 Frozen Dessert Maker and the AT445 Potato Peeler.

Can I purchase a creaming beater for my Chef or Major?

A creaming beater is designed for cake making. It scrapes the mixture from the sides of the bowl and thoroughly incorporates all of the ingredients. Sadly it negates to need to lick the bowl afterwards! The Chef version can be ordered using part number AT501, and the Major version can be ordered using part number AT502, and are available from our website by clicking here.

I have an additional attachment with my kMix Kitchen Machine. What is it?

The beater with the rubber coating is a Creaming Beater and works in a similar manner to the K-Beater, however it also scrapes the side of the bowl whilst mixing. It is perfect for softer cake mixtures and ensures the ingredients areincorporated to perfection. It is a popular addition to the kMix Stand Mixer.

My creaming beater and spatula has discoloured. Why is this?

Colourful spices such as turmeric and saffron can stain plastic and silicone. Your creaming beater comes with a black and grey silicone fin. We recommend using the black for savoury and the grey for sweet foods. This avoids flavour contamination and the staining cannot be seen on the black silicone.

Your older slow speed attachments will fit your new Chef Sense when used with an adapter, which is included in the pack when you purchase the machine. The Frozen Dessert Maker, Potato Peeler and Sieve attachments will not fit. What do the different discs do on my slicer/grater?

The thick and thin slicer discs are ideal for cheese, potato, carrot, cabbage, courgette, beetroot, onion and apple. The thick and thin grating plates are ideal for cheese, carrot, potato and foods of a similar texture. The plates are reversible, each having a grating function on one side and a slicing function on the other. There are four additional plates that can be bought separately if they are not included already. (Some models may vary). The extra-coarse grater coarsely grates cheese and carrot. The rasping plate grates parmesan cheese and potato for German potato dumplings, known as r&ouml;sti. The thin chipper cuts potatoes for super-thin French fries, ingredients for salads, garnishes, casseroles and stir fries. The standard chipper cuts potatoes for thin French fries and ingredients for casseroles and dips.

The sealing ring appears to be missing, what can I do?

Included in your pack is the Maccheroni Rigati die. Each screen is bronze and is supplied with a storage case. The screens have a rough surface allowing the pasta to collect more sauce which creates a fuller flavour. Regrettably if the Chef your blender attaches to is an A701 or A707 spares are no longer available. Unfortunately the AT445 Major Potato Peeler has now been discontinued. It will not be coming back into stock. The AT444 Potato Peeler will only fit the Kenwood Chef machine with the 4.6L bowl and this will continue to be available. This model will not, however, fit the Chef Sense launched in September 2014.

Does the pasta dough need to be a specific consistency for use with my AT936 Pasta Maker?

The pasta mix should resemble coarse breadcrumbs or a coarse crumb texture. The particles should be separate but if squeezed together it should form a clump which bonds together. Don't make the mix too dry as it could damage or break your pasta maker or mixer.

How do I assemble my AT340 Slicer Grater?

Accepted Answer

- Remove the high speed outlet cover - Fit the gearbox assembly onto the mixer Push the desired cutting plate onto the shaft. Each plate is numbered for identification and the number should be uppermost when the plate is pushed onto the shaft. - Fit the sweeper onto the shaft with the flat surface of the sweeper against the plate. For best results when using the slicing/chipping plates, the sweeper arm should be positioned opposite the blade, as shown below. - Attach the lid assembly to the body, Line up the symbol on the lid with on the body. Then turn to symbol to lock into place. - Fit the assembled attachment onto the gearbox and turn to lock into position. - If required fit the extension chute into the food outlet and push firmly into place. The extension chute MUST be fitted when the attachment is used with mixer KM070 but can also be used with all other mixers to direct the food into the collecting bowl. - Connect the mixer to the power supply and place a bowl under the food outlet. - Choose which feed tube you want to use. The pusher contains a smaller feed tube for processing individual items or thin ingredients. - To use the small feed tube - first put the larger pusher inside the feed tube - To use the larger feed tube - use both pushers together. - Put the food inside the feed tube. - Switch the mixer onto speed 3 and at the same time push down evenly with the pusher &ndash; never put your fingers in the feed tube. - At the completion of the processing operation, raising and lowering the pusher several times may help to reduce the amount of food left on the cutting plate. - Switch off and unplug.

In order to attach your pasta attachment: - Switch off and unplug your Chef or Major and remove the slow speed cover. - Line up the body of the pasta maker with the slot inside the slow speed coupling on your Chef and insert. - Open the slow speed outlet catch and push the attachment further into the outlet. I have purchased a new blender for my Chef or Major and it will not fit. What can I do?

The base on our current blender is spring loaded and requires a slightly different action to secure it to the Chef. These blenders will fit all Chef and Major models manufactured after 1976, including the A901, but not the A701 or A707. In order to fit the blender, please carry out the following: - With the handle facing away from you and pushing slightly in a downward direction, turn the handle until you feel the biting point. - Push the blender fully down on to the Chef/ Major. - Turn the handle clockwise as far as it will go to fully secure the blender. Your blender is now ready for use.

What can I use the grain mill for?

You can use the grain mill to mill a range of cereals including wheat, rye, buckwheat, husked barley, millet and rice. Oats can also be ground but a coarse setting should be selected. All the cereals must be dry otherwise the mill will clog.

All liquids and hot ingredients should be allowed to cool to room temperature before placing in a blender. However if you are using our AT358 or KAH358GL blender attachment made from ThermoResist&trade; glass, you can blend up to 1.2L of hot ingredients immediately.

The hopper can accommodate 750g-1kg of grain depending on the cereal. However once the machine has started milling you can keep feeding more grain through the attachment until you have the amount you require.

Use the medium and coarse screens for raw meat; fish; nuts; vegetables; hard cheese; or peel or dried fruit for puddings and marmalade. The medium and coarse screens can be used for creating the fillings when using the sausage making adapter to fill sausage skins.

Use with the rough side up for removing fibres from cooked fruit and vegetables - for example rhubarb and spinach, pur&eacute;eing fruit and vegetables such as bananas, cooked potatoes and making biscuit crumbs. Use with the smooth side up for stoning cooked fruit - for example plums and damsons. Please note that the sieve is not compatible with the glass bowl.

It will either be: AT956 &ndash; Fits the CHEF range (AT956A or AT956B) AT957 &ndash; Fits the MAJOR range (AT957A or AT957B) KAB956PL - Fits the Chef Sense KAB957PL - Fits the Chef Sense XL If you are having difficulty fitting the attachment to your machine, it may help to check the paddle. Imprinted on the paddle will be either a &lsquo;C' (for Chef), or &lsquo;M' (for Major). This is another useful way to check you have the correct attachment if the box has been disposed of.
