Use firm fruits & vegetables without stones, seeds or hollow centres. Avoid soft, juicy or overripe foods as they will fall apart when spiralized.
Some food items such as Celeriac, Swede, Turnip, Butternut Squash, and Daikon Radish/Mooli with a thick hard skin will need to be peeled and cut to fit the feed tube before spiralizing.
The below table shows what food items can be used in the Kenwood Spiralizer.
Food Items |
| Preparation | Comments |
Apples/Pears | • Use small apples/pears (diameter to fit the feed tube) • Cut to make flat edge to attach the pusher • No need to core or remove the seeds as the core will be retained on the end of the pusher | • Spiralized apple will turn brown quickly so use immediately or add the lemon juice • Use in salads and dessert recipes
Beetroot | • Remove the leaves • There is no need to peel fresh beetroot, simply wash the skin before spiralizing | • Cooked beetroot is too soft and won't spiralize well • Can be eaten raw in salads
Broccoli | • Trim the stems | • When cooking broccoli save the stems to spiralize
Cucumber | • Cut to fit the feed tube | • Lightly steam, blanched, boil or stir fry
