Spicy Date Cakes by Jennifer Croucher

Ingredients

225g Self-raising Flour
125g Butter or margarine
125g Muscovado Sugar
1 Egg Beaten
75ml Milk
½ tsp. Cinnamon
½ tsp. Nutmeg
125g chopped dates

This recipe is very easy to make, but tastes delicious.

Method

Preheat the oven to 350°F / 180°C or gas mark 4. Grease and line a 7inch cake tin or make in individual bake boxes.  Cream the Butter or margarine with the sugar until it's light and fluffy, mix the flour with the cinnamon and nutmeg, add this to the butter mix and add the beaten egg and milk.  Add the chopped dates and mix well.  Spoon into the baking tin or individual boxes and bake in the centre of the oven until a thin knife comes out clean when inserted in the middle of cake, leave to cool before removing from tin.
