Tomato and Basil Sausage Rolls

Try making these delicious Tomato and Basil Sausage Rolls for a flavoursome afternoon tea or snack. We have topped ours with poppy seeds for that extra crunch. Use our puff pastry recipe or use a premade puff pastry block to get started.

  1. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  2. Grease and line a clean baking tray with parchment paper
  3. Attach K Beater
  4. Add fresh basil leaves, sausage meat, sundried tomato, salt, caster sugar, water and panko breadcrumbs to the Kenwood Bowl
  5. Mix then set aside - 2 min, Speed Min
  6. Place puff pastry on a clean lightly floured surface
  7. Roll out into a rectangle until 2mm thick
  8. Transfer meat to work surface
  9. Shape into a log
  10. Place filling on pastry
  11. Roll the pastry over to cover the filling, allowing the pastry to overlap slightly
  12. Trim excess pastry
  13. Brush with egg
  14. Seal
  15. Cut into 5cm long pieces
  16. Brush the top with the remaining egg wash
  17. Use a sharp knife to score 3 cuts at an angle along the top of each sausage roll
  18. Sprinkle with poppy seeds
  19. Transfer pastry to baking tray
  20. Bake until golden brown - 20 min, 180°C
  21. Remove from oven and let cool - 2 min
  22. Serve
