Claire Evans

Meet Claire

Claire's unfortunate attempts to cook have always resulted in a culinary disaster and when it comes to having friends over to dinner – she will end up ordering a takeaway.  Her biggest kitchen disaster was when she tried to create a simple Victoria Sponge for her father’s birthday and ended up burning it in front of her entire family.

Elaine Hurren

Elaine Hurren

Meet Elaine

Mum of three Elaine was nominated by her daughter Jess and wasn’t surprised that she’d been entered into the competition. A total mess in the kitchen, Elaine has so many kitchen disaster stories she couldn’t pick her worst one – but it might be washing a baking tray and attempting to cook roast potatoes that ended up tasting of washing up liquid.

Kate, 27, is a doctor and a self-diagnosed Disaster Chef, in serious need of a prescription of cooking lessons. She loves to experiment in the kitchen but unfortunately her unique flavour combinations, which include cheese and chocolate on toast, have failed to woo the crowd. Kate who lives with her boyfriend, has in the past taken inspiration from TV chefs who magically create magnificent dishes, unfortunately though, the only thing she has ever managed to create in the kitchen is a gigantic mess.

Nikki Holmes

Nikki Holmes

Meet Nikki

Food lover Nikki loves to host dinner parties at home, but instead of enjoying her food, friends and family end up mocking it. Nikki is desperate to learn how to whip up some tasty cuisine so she can avoid being ridiculed, setting her kitchen on fire or nearly losing a finger!

>> See Nikki's progress!

Your reviews

  1. Good luck Nikki!!! I'm sure after a few weeks you will be making beautiful dinners for your husband and baking Victoria Sponges that are edible and not having to be replaced by shop bought muffins!!!

    Posted: 21/07/2013 22:58:18 / Marie Chinn

  2. Good luck Nikki on the rest of the competition, I have seen you progress with your cooking skills these last few weeks, and can't believe the transformation in your cooking abilities now you have your new best friend the amazing Kenwood Chef. Your sales pitch has totally convinced me to only buy Kenwood products, and to be honest if half of them are even close to being as good as the Kenwood chef then I will be a very happy woman. After listening to all your friends who was at your house the other night I think you have sold to them as well. Your bread was perfection last week, accept for the too bulbs of garlic you put in them instead of too cloves, oh well. All the best hunnie x

    Posted: 08/08/2013 10:16:12 / Jayne Eby

  3. The upside plum cake was wow, moist and light, all in all a master piece. This is the first cake Nikki has made that has been anywhere near edible. Her cake making talents have been the butt of everyone's jokes since she started cooking. Well done Nikki you have surpassed yourself this week, with a little help from the silver beast. It's just so refreshing to have pots and pans that don't look like they have spent weeks down a coal mine. I have been trying to teach her to cook for years, and yet five weeks with you guys and hey presto. So hats off to you guys as well. I know she loves the challenges each week, and waiting time at the casulty department has gone down significantly since.

  4. Toad in the hole, needless to say Nikki wasn't entirely sure how this would turn out. All I can say about this weeks task is YUM YUM, my kind of dinner, I loved it, and with the help of the silver beast it again surpassed my own Toad in the hole which I have always rated as pretty good. I have over these past six weeks enjoyed every single thing that Nikki has cooked, don't know what to have this week now as Im cooking for myself :( Well done Nikki and thank you, and of course good luck.
