Spiced Hot Apple Cider

  • 2 quarts 100% apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 apple, unpeeled and cut in half
  • 1 small naval orange, unpeeled and sliced into 1/4-inch slices
  • 2 tsp. whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice

Preparation time:  8 minutes
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Yields:: 2 quarts

  1. Carefully insert the whole cloves into the apple on both the flesh and skin sides. Add the Flexi-Beater attachment. Turn on the temperature knob to 195ºF to warm up the Cooking Chef bowl.
  2. Add the apple cider, and turn the control knob to stirring speed 1, increase the temperature to 212ºF and let the juice heat for 10 minutes
  3. Next, add the brown sugar and stir to dissolve for about 5 minutes. Add the fruit and spices. Bring to a simmer and let simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Promptly remove the apple halves, orange slices, cinnamon sticks and any clove remnants from the Cooking Chef bowl.  Serve hot.
