Switch off, unplug and allow the sandwich maker to cool down completely.
Clean the sandwich toaster after each use to maintain it in a good clean working condition.
The outside
Wipe with a damp cloth then dry.
Toasting plates
Wipe the plates with a damp cloth, using soapy water if necessary, then dry thoroughly.
Do not use abrasive cleaners as they will damage the non-stick coating.

Before the first use you should lightly brush the surface of the plates with cooking oil. Don’t use low fat spreads as they may burn and damage the non-stick surface. Heat the unit with the lid open for 5 minutes. Unplug and allow to cool, then remove any excess oil with absorbent paper.

The Sandwich Maker may emit smoke on the first use. This is normal.

As soon as you plug the Sandwich Maker in the red power light should turn on. It will then heat itself up to an optimal toasting temperature, when it has reached this temperature the blue temp light will turn on, alerting you to the fact the Sandwich Maker is ready to use.
