Beef Burgers

Ingredients

  • 700g beef (20% fat) cut into strips
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • 1.5 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Cheese slices, such as swiss, cheddar, or american, optional

Method

  • To make the beef patties, attach the food mincer attachment with the medium screen fitted to the slow speed outlet of your machine. Place the Chef mixing bowl underneath to collect the mince.
  • Turn the machine on speed 4 and use the pusher to guide the beef through the mincer.
  • Remove the mincer and place the slow speed outlet cover back onto the machine.
  • To the minced meat, add the onion, salt, pepper, sugar and spices.
  • Attach the K-beater and place the bowl onto the machine.
  • Mix on speed 1 for 1 minute until well combined.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 8 (80 - 100g) and shape into patties roughly 3/4 inch thick.
  • Make an indention in the middle of the patty to prevent bulging in the center of the hamburger as it cooks.
  • Repeat with the remaining meat mixture, making 8 burger patties.
  • Place the burgers on the grill with the indented side upwards.
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes on the first side then flip the burgers over and cook an additional 4-5 minutes, until the burgers have reached the desired doneness.
  • If adding cheese, lay a slice of cheese on each burger patty about 1 minute before taking the burgers off the grill, so the cheese has a chance to melt.
  • To assemble, cut a brioche roll in half then place the cooked burger on top along with a dollop of tomato relish. Serve with salad vegetables as desired.
