Method
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in water and leave for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- Mix the flour and salt in the Kenwood machine using the dough hook on a low speed.
- Add the yeast mixture, milk and oil and knead on medium speed for 7 minutes or until well combined and a soft dough is formed.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover and let proof for one hour.
- Preheat oven to 180˚C.
- Lightly flour the worktop and roll out the dough until about 1/2cm thick. Cut into rounds using a slightly floured 7cm cookie cutter.
- Fill each round with a generous portion of the mixture avoiding the edges.
- Fold over the edges of the dough without covering the filling to form ovals or boats with pointed ends as shown in the picture.
- Place the pies on an oven tray, brush with egg wash & sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes (according to size) until golden.
