  • Does the cartridge remove flouride from the water?

    No.

  • How does the Kenwood Filter work?

    Kenwood's range of water filter jugs use gravity to pass water from a hopper through a cartridge containg filtration media developed especially for use with drinking water. As the water comes into contact with the media,impurities are removed. The filtered water is then stored in the jug. Many of Kenwood's water filter jugs are designed to fit into the fridge for a convenient supply of delicious chilled filtered water.

  • Is filtered water better for hot beverages and cooking?

    By reducing the temporary hardness of drinking water, the natural aromatics in tea and coffee are more readily dissolved, bringing out the full aroma and taste, and steam or boiled vegetables better retain their colour and flavour.

  • Is filtered water suitable for babies?

    Yes, it is and for making up baby formula. However like tap water, it must be boiled and cooled before being given to babies and infants.

  • Is filtered water suitable for those on a low sodium diet?

  • Is tap water safe to drink already? Why do I need a water filter?

    Yes, tap water is closely regulated to ensure that it is "potable" i.e. safe to drink, at the point of use, usually your kitchen tap. However, the chlorine which is used to sterilise our drinking water has an unpleasant aroma and taste. Also, it is desirable for both taste and health reasons to remove impurities which are present in tap water at legally accepted levels or which are introduced via household plumbing, e.g. sediment, copper or lead.

  • Is the Kenwood filter cartridge compatible with other brands of jugs?

    The Kenwood filter cartridge can be used in conjunction with Waymaster, boots, Brita-Classic and Brita Multi-fit.It is not compatible with Brita Maxtra.

  • What are the grains in the Water Filter Cartridge?

    The latest in food grade ion exchange resin technology. The resins reduce heavy metals, nitrate, limescale and aluminium etc.

  • What does the Kenwood water filter cartridge remove?

    The Kenwood limescale cartridge is primarily intended to reduce levels of temporary hardness and chlorine , as well as aluminium, copper, lead, zinc and other heavy metals, pesticides and organic pollutants present in tap water.

  • Why are Water Filter cartridges moist on opening?

    This ensures the particles inside the cartridge remain swollen. If the cartridge is allowed to dry out, even in use, the particles may shrink and escape. These particles are food grade and will not cause harm if ingested. If your cartridge is allowed to dry out, soak for 10 minutes and continue use.

  • Why do you need to soak the cartridge before use?

    The cartideg contains filtration media that needs to be kept moist to do their job effectively. The plastic wrapper helps to retain the moisture during transit, but to keep ensure the cartridge works effectively, it needs to be soaked for a few minutes before use. It's important to agitate the cartridge gently underwater to remove any air bubbles trapped within the filtration media and to help the water to fow through smoothly.

  • Why does the water filter cartridge have to be changed after 28 days even if 150 litres have not been run through?

    Bacteria can form inside the cartridge after this amount of time.

  • Why should filtered water be used straight away?

    Like any foodstuff, water is a perishable product. Filtering removes chlorine, which is used to disinfrect the water, thus reducing the shelf life of the filtered water. Any unused filtered water should be discarded after 24 hours.
