KMC510 Manuals/ FAQs/ Support

  • Will the food processor attachment fit my Chef?

The AT640 or AT647 Food Processor attachment will only fit the Titanium models, as these have an additional medium speed attachment point. Models include the KM001, KM002, KM010, KM020, KM030, KMC030, KMC015, KM023, KMC023, KM013, KMC013, KMC010 and KMM020.  The Titanium range has an additional Medium speed outlet

If your model is not one of the Titanium range, it may be worth considering the AT340 Pro Slicer/ Grater attachment, which has seven discs included, for slicing, grating and julienne effects. The AT337, AT358, AT339 blender and AT320 mill jar set will carry out chopping functions and the AT950 mincer will mince meat and vegetables. These attachments, with the exception of the AT950, fit onto the high speed power outlet.  The AT950 uses the slow speed power outlet.

  • Grease is leaking from my Chef or Major. What should I do?

The gears within your Chef or Major are coated in a food grade grease and this can occasionally seep from where the tools fit. This is more likely if your machine is more than 40 years old, stored for a long time without use, or stored on its side. It is recommended that you store the Chef in an upright position when not in use.

Very occasionally an oil leak can occur with a new machine and this is normally due to transportation and storage conditions.

The oil is vegetable based and completely safe. It can be wiped away with a piece of kitchen towel. Your Chef/ Major should not require lubricating in its normal lifetime. However if the machine has lost a considerable amount of grease after a long time in storage it may be worth considering having the machine serviced.

  • My Dough Hook/ K-Beater is stuck. How can I remove it?

The tool may have been incorrectly attached before mixing. Lift the head and gently turn the attachment from the bottom end, twisting in a clockwise direction. It is important not to use forceful pressure.

If this is unsuccessful we would advise the machine is taken to a service centre.

  • I am having difficulty fitting the Flexi Beater into my Chef or Major. All my other tools are fine.

The shaft design has been updated in recent years. It is possible that the shaft on your Flexi Beater is a different design to your other bowl tools. To confirm compare the shaft on this bowl tool to your other bowl tools.

If it is different please contact the Customer Experience team via our contact form and they can send you the correct shaft for your Chef or Major. Please ensure you fill in all the information requested to enable us to assist you as quickly as possible. The shaft can be replaced by unscrewing the old one and screwing the replacement into the bowl tool. Adjust the shaft to ensure the beater just touches the bottom of the bowl.

  • How do I remove the top outlet cover on my Chef/ Major?

The cover lifts off entirely. There are no hinges or fixings. If your Chef is new it may be a little stiff to remove initially.

Simply lever one side with a spatula, spoon or similar and the rest of the outlet cover should release with ease.

  • What are the maximum capacities for my Chef or Major kitchen machine?

The maximum capacities are as follows. Do not attempt to exceed these as doing so could damage your machine.

Chef - Short crust pastry - 680g flour, Fruit cake mix - 2.72kg total mix, Stiff bread dough - 1.36g flour,  Soft bread dough - 1.3kg flour, Egg whites - 12

Major - Short crust pastry - 910g flour, Fruit cake mix - 4.55kg total mix, Stiff bread dough - 1.5kg flour, Soft bread dough - 2.6kg flour, Egg whites – 16

  • What is the difference between a Chef and a Major?

The main difference between the two machines is the bowl size, with the Major having a 6.7L bowl and the Chef a 4.6L bowl.  Motor size will also be higher for a Major verses its comparable Chef sized machine.  For example, the KM631 Major Classic has 900w power compared with the KM336 Chef Classic which has 800w power.

It is worth noting that the Major is a taller and heavier machine but it can mix larger quantities at one time than the Chef.

  • The CD or DVD supplied with my machine does not work. What can I try?

The recipe disk (if supplied) is a CD-ROM which should be viewed using your computer or laptop. It contains a list of searchable recipes.

The attachments information DVD (if supplied) will play on a standard DVD player. This contains video images of the various attachments available for your machine.
