For the beefburger:700g lean minced beef 50g crustless white bread 1 red onion, peeled 2 tsp Dijon mustard For the tomato sauce:1 medium onion, peeled and halved 1 clove of garlic, peeled 1 red chilli, deseeded (optional) 1 tbsp olive oil 450g ripe tomatoes 100ml water 1 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp tomato puree 2 tbsp red wine vinegar

Tip: Any remaining sauce can be kept in the fridge for up to a week and served with other dishes e.g. fish fingers.
Try different flavours: For the beefburgers add other flavourings as you wish e.g. 2 tsp finely chopped rosemary or 1 tbsp horseradish sauce or chopped fresh chilli.
