Kenwood, a proud sponsor of Vintage at Goodwood (13th-15th August 2010) took to the stage this year at the first ever festival celebrating ‘5 decades of British Cool’ from the 1940s to the 1980s.
A stroll down the ‘pop-up’ High Street at Goodwood provided festival goers with a rich combination of food, clothing, design and culture. Amongst the range of shops, bars and eateries that the vintage High Street had to offer stood the ‘Kenwood Food Theatre’. The theatre provided regular shows and demonstrations taking audiences back to the 1950s and 1970s via the use of the Kenwood ‘time-travelling’, revolving kitchen.
A Step back to the 50's saw the original Kenwood Chef brought to life with professional Chefs demonstrating classic recipes such as ‘Corned Beef Hash’, 'Spam Fritters' and ‘Coronation Chicken’. Trips to the 1970's highlighted the stylistic changes to the iconic Chef and audiences were invited to see what was on offer at dinner parties of the 1970's; demonstration chefs whipped up recipes such as ‘Avocado Mousse’, ‘Baked Alaska’ and ‘Chicken in a Basket’. The Kenwood Food Theatre, full of 1950s and 1970s charm (and wallpaper to match) was graced by the presence of well-established Chefs and Cookery experts such as Marguerite Patten, Eric Lanyard, Steve Walpole, Martin Blunos, Tiffany Goodall, Andrew Nutter, Katie Caldesi and John Quilter.
Other entertainment in the theatre came in the form of ‘Fanny and Johnny’ who provided light comedy throughout the weekend and artists from ‘The House of Fairytales’ took to teaching children (and adults alike) the benefits of healthy eating and creative storytelling through regular shows and workshops.
