FutureChef is a nationwide competition run by the Springboard Charity helping young people aged 12-16 to learn to cook. It inspires them to explore food and cooking as a life skill by developing their culinary talent and informing them about entry routes into the hospitality industry.
This year, 7411 students from 656 schools took part in the four staged competition which resulted in 12 regional finalists being selected to cook a two-course meal consisting of a hot main course and dessert for three people using only speciality ingredients chosen by The Craft Guild of Chefs. Hosted by Brian Turner, the final took place in Westminster College Queensay where, in just two hours, these young chefs were judged by a panel of high profile and celebrated chefs including Ainsley Harriott.
