Method

  1. Grease the ceramic dish of the slow cooker with the butter.
  2. Layer the dish with potatoes and onions, finishing with a layer of potato.
  3. Mix the remaining ingredient together and pour over the potatoes.
  4. Turn slow cooker on high and cook with the lid on for 1hr.
  5. Turn cooker on to the low setting and cook for 4-4 ½ hrs.
  6. The top may be browned under the grill if so desired.

Serving suggestion
Serve as an accompaniment to roast or grilled meats.

900g potatoes - thinly sliced
1 large onion - thinly sliced
200ml milk
200ml double cream
2 cloves garlic crushed
½ tsp grated nutmeg
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
25g butter
