  • WE HAVE A WINNER!

    Nikki Holmes has been crowned the winner of the Kenwood Disaster Chef competition during the live final held at The Kenwood Academy in Havant.

     

    Following a series of challenges that included; scallops on a choux tartlette with a pea and mint puree for starter, pappardelle with an arrabbiata sauce for main course and chocolate fondant for dessert, Nikki was declared the winner by our panel of expert judges.

     

    The judges – pop star Liz McClarnon, Kenwood’s development chef Martin Johns and SORTED’s Ben Ebbrell, scored each Disaster Chef finalist on their cooking technique, presentation and the taste of each dish.

     

    Nikki’s most impressive meal was the choux tartlette starter, which was deemed by the judges to be perfectly cooked.

     

    Nikki was awarded a fantastic prize package worth over £4,000, which included a kitchen makeover, a cookery course and a selection of Kenwood’s stylish kitchen appliances to ensure she always has a helping hand in the kitchen. With Nikki’s new found confidence she now plans to host regular dinner parties for her friends and try out brand new meal ideas as well as adapt those that she was taught by our experts.

Their performance at the final just goes to show what can be done in only three months. With the help of Kenwood’s experts they have taken their cooking from dismal to delicious!”

    Martin Johns: “At Kenwood, we understand the importance of home cooking – whether it’s pulling together a quick healthy breakfast for one or preparing a meal for those you love. But not everyone has an abundance of skills in the kitchen and that’s why we launched our Disaster Chef competition. It’s great to see all our Disaster Chefs now have more confidence – they’ve come a long way in the last three months.”

     

  • Ben Ebbrell from SORTED : “It is been a pleasure to get more involved in the Disaster Chef competition. It’s great to see all those that took part now have the confidence to have a go in the kitchen; cooking doesn’t have to be scary, get in the kitchen and have some fun!”

    Nikki said: “I’m over the moon that I’ve won the Disaster Chef competition; it’s a dream come true! Not only have I learnt loads of new cooking skills and recipes but I’ve got a confidence in the kitchen that I’ve never had before. I know my family will want to thank Kenwood for turning me from kitchen zero to culinary hero in just three months and I can’t wait to start using all my new kitchen equipment!”
